The state and Cape May are on the same page it appears. Council voted 5-0 to approve a beach fill at Cove Beach on Monday. The issue arose over how the state wanted to handle the nesting of piping plovers. The beach will remain a bathing beach and open, which will ease the fears of some that it would be closed for the nesting of the plovers. It is a $9 million project that will put almost 150,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach in Cape May.
