On Thursday the N.J. Supreme Court ruled that the state does not owe cost-of-living payments to those on public pensions, after they were suspended by a 2011 law. This is the second ruling in favor of Gov. Christie’s budget cutting battles with public unions over pension reform. The court ruling overturned an appellate court decision, by saying the state used it’s sovereign right to act in the best interest of the public by suspending further cost-of-living adjustments to pensioners.
