A motor vehicle crash claimed the life of a passenger and the driver was charged in the death. Middle Township Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Shunpike road in Burleigh on Friday. Responding officers found a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with extensive damage in the wooded shoulder of the road. The driver had left the scene. He was located a short time later, and was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Jibreel Masud, of Cape May Court House was pronounced at the scene by Atlanticare medics. Bruce Moffitt Jr. was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in a death 2nd degree, and aggravated manslaughter 1st degree. Moffitt was lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center on $250,000 bail.
