If you’re too young to buy don’t even try that’s the slogan of the We Check For 21 Program which officially starts in Cape May County on Thursday, June 23, 2011. The event will take place at the Wildwoods Convention Center located at 4501 Boardwalk in Wildwood.
Two training sessions on fraudulent identification documents such as New Jersey and out of state licenses and international passports will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for employees of liquor license establishments in Cape May County.
This is the 19th anniversary of the program that originated in Cape May County and has since been implemented statewide. The initiative started in 1993 with forty businesses and now there are more than 100 participating.
The “We Check for 21” program is a unique collaborative effort bringing together the public and private sectors of our county in the fight against underage drinking. The program has been successful in raising awareness that underage drinking is not tolerated in Cape May County.
