The County of Cape is continuing to repair roads damaged during the winter storms of 2010. Currently, work is underway on Bayshore Road (County Road No. 607).
New drainage pipe is being installed in the Borough of West Cape May. Therefore, Bayshore Road will be closed to all through traffic from Fifth Avenue to Stimpson Lane in West Cape May from 7 a.m. on each Monday until 5 p.m. on Thursday. Bayshore Road will be open for all traffic during weekends. The work is expected to be completed in about three weeks.
The project consists of installing approximately 1,200 feet of new drain pipe to alleviate some of the flooding on Bayshore Road near Fifth Avenue. The flooding, which caused the closure of Bayshore Road for long periods of time this winter, occurred from excessive rainfall and high water table.
The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders awarded F.W. Shawl & Sons, Inc., of Marmora, a construction contract in the amount of $147,482.75 for the installation of the storm drain pipe. The project was designed by the Cape May County Engineer’s Office.
