Avalon was the site of a press conference that was held Tuesday morning to discuss beach funding. The discussion centered on legislative efforts to double the amount of dedicated funding to beach projects from $25 million to $50 million. Avalon Mayor Marty Pagliughi discussed how beaches are not only an economic engine for the County, but also for the State. The Jersey Shore Partnership has been advocating for an increase in beach nourishment funding; two local lawmakers pledged support for the initiative.
