CORRUPTION TRIAL BEGINS FOR FORMER ASSEMBLYMAN

An former Ocean County assemblyman was in court for the opening argument of his corruption trial. Daniel Van Pelt is accused of accepting a $10,000 bribe, in exchange for favors. The defense claims Van Pelt was taking the money as a consultant. They also say he was planning on going into the consulting business. Van Pelt is one of the 44 people that were arrested last year in a corruption sting.
