Right-hander José Contreras was placed on the disabled list with a right flexor pronator strain retroactive to Friday, April 22, the Phillies announced. To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, right-hander Michael Stutes had his contract selected from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Contreras, 39, is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA over eight scoreless appearances (8.0 IP) this season. Additionally, he has converted all five of his save opportunities and has held opponents to a .148 batting average (4-for-27).
Stutes, 24, has gone 2-1 with one save and a 1.80 ERA in seven appearances for Lehigh Valley this season. He has struck out 14 batters over 10.0 innings.
