Dozens of unemployed construction workers picketed outside the Northfield office of State Senator Jim Whelan on Monday, calling for funding of the state’s Transportation Trust Fund. Gov. Christie called a halt to all state road construction projects supported by the fund, until monies can be raised to replenish the TTF. The protesters were members of Laborers Local 172, who later in the day also picketed in Cape May Court House at the office of State Senator Jeff Van Drew. Workers have been idle for over five weeks, when the projects were shut down.
