CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO MOVE NOMINATIONS FORWARD PROPOSED IN ASSEMBLY

A Republican assemblyman has proposed legislation with a 60 day time window on which action must by taken in the Senate on a gubernatorial nomination. Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll noted the nomination of Anne Paterson to the Supreme Court, yet no formal action has been taken to look into the matter further. Democrats criticized Carroll for sponsoring legislation which deals specifically with the Senate, which is where gubernatorial nominations are looked at.
