The Coast Guard rescued nine people after their 36-foot boat they were aboard had a small fire and was taking on water 10 nautical miles east of Manasquan Inlet Tuesday.
The Coast Guard received a call at 6:23 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the Reel Manz reporting they put out the fire, had the flooding under control and were making their way toward Manasquan.
A 47-foot motor life boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet arrived on scene and transferred a water pump to the crewmembers aboard the Reel Manz with one Coast Guard person after the boat’s pump stopped working and escorted the Reel Manz and its crews to the station.
No injuries were reported.
