The Coast Guard medevaced a 42-year-old man from a cruise ship 20 miles east of Atlantic City Saturday. The Coast Guard received a call at 10:21 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the Norwegian Jewel reporting a passenger with an acute appendicitis. A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City arrived on scene and hoisted the man aboard their helicopter. The man was transported to Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City and transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel. The 42-year-old was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.
