The Coast Guard, federal, state and local agencies as well as industry and private stakeholders held a mass rescue exercise in the Delaware Bay Wednesday.
The exercise scenario was an operation aboard the Coast Guard Cutter William Tate, homeported in Philadelphia, acting as the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, which began as an engine room fire and escalated. Numerous agencies assisted in simulated rescue operations using playing cards representing injured passengers, which they transported to the training center.
Training Center Cape May members simulated a triage and treatment center for the exercise, while two recruit companies played an acting role as the injured passengers.
