Wildwood Mayor Mayor Ernie Troiano and a group of local residents attended Tuesday’s Cape May County Freeholder’s meeting, in opposition to an expansion of facilities for Cape Assist. The group from Wildwood did not want the freeholders to approve a grant application to fund the renovation of a building at Leaming and New Jersey Avenues, that Cape Assist plans to use for drug prevention and counseling. Protesters claim that drug treatment will be conducted at the new site and they picketed the location prior to the meeting. The freeholder board approved the agency’s grant application, despite protester signs that said “Freeholders Stop Dumping on Wildwood”.
