Atlantic County continues with clean up efforts following the June 30 storm that resulted in thousands of downed trees and prolonged power outages to more than 100,000 Atlantic City Electric customers.
The state of emergency that had been in effect immediately following the storm to expedite response efforts was lifted at noon on July 11. The county is now awaiting word on whether it will receive a federal disaster declaration based upon preliminary damage assessments conducted by representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency last week.
The county’s two residential debris disposal sites remain open 8 AM to 8 PM through Friday and will continue throughout the weekend with hours of operation of 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. They are located at Riverbend Park, Rt. 559, between Betsy Scull Road and Green Tree Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township, and Estell Manor Park, north entrance off of Rt. 50, Mays Landing. Residents may bring tree debris from the storm. No other materials will be accepted. Illegal dumping will be prosecuted.
