Civil rights activists assembled outside the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday to request that the New Jersey Attorney General investigate the fatal shooting of Jerame Reid. The 36-year-old Upper Deerfield man was shot and killed by Bridgeton police officers after a traffic stop on Dec. 30th. Bridgeton police released dash cam footage on Tuesday that shows the traffic stop and the events leading up to and including the shooting. Walter Hudson, who led the protest, says the state should conduct the investigation into the use of deadly force. Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae recused herself because she knows one of the police officers personally. First Assistant Prosecutor Harold Shapiro is currently handling the case.
