In a split vote, Gov. Chris Christie didn’t get his way. A Senate committee rejected one of his Supreme Court nominees on Thursday. A 7-6 vote rejected Phillip Kwon inside of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Christie has maintained that both of his nominees are qualified. Kwon would have been the first Asian-American justice. Democrats were not satisfied with his family affiliation with a liquor company that had to forfeit money to the federal government following a legal suit. Kwon was also questioned on his affiliation as a Republican, who recently registered as an Independent.
