Firefighters from as far south as Cape May County were in Seaside Heights on Thursday because of a fire that has damaged over 10 businesses. The fire began at a Kohr’s Brothers Ice Cream stand on the boardwalk there. Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency in the area surrounding the boardwalk there. The governor said he was sick to his stomach when he heard the news. A few of the businesses impacted by the smoke and flames hadn’t reopened following Hurricane Sandy. Firefighters remain on the scene trying to keep everything under control.
