Gov. Chris Christie took his pen to paper to veto legislation regarding the confinement of pigs to small crates. Christie in a statement said that lawmakers should instead be working on measures that will help the state improve itself. The governor previously vetoed a similar measure, noting that both N.J. State Board of Agriculture and Department of Agriculture did not believe the bill was necessary. Some have said the confinement of the pigs to the small crates is cruel to the animal.
