A new proposal to fund transportation projects is “dead on arrival.” Gov. Chris Christie said he is rejecting a plan to raise the gas tax along with a number of tax cuts that didn’t include the initial proposal Christie proposed of cutting the sales tax. Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto came up with the plan on their own. Most of the key Democrats are in Philadelphia this week for the Democrat National Convention, so any new talks will likely take place next week. Christie said any increase in taxes need to be properly balanced out with a tax cut.
