It is a “new Rutgers” according to Gov. Chris Christie. Christie was on hand for the final merger between University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Rutgers University. As apart of the merger, Rowan University will now control UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in Camden County. Christie has touted the restructuring of higher education in the state and believes this will make Rutgers University a stronger entity as a result. Rutgers will now control two medical schools along with seven of the other schools that UMDNJ had under it.
