New Jersey Governor Chris Christie 1, state public employees unions 0 when it comes to the way the state funds pensions. The New Jersey Supreme Court has ruled that public workers really do not have an enforceable contract relating to greater funding of their pensions. The issue before the Court was the legality of Christie underfunding pension contributions in order to help balance the state budget. The ruling that essentially favored Christie was 5-2 by the state’s highest court.
