New Jersey Governor Chris Christie asked beach communities to keep a close eye on Hermine, even though it no longer is a direct threat to the State’s coastline. Christie told reporters on Sunday that he declared a state of emergency for three coastal counties, including Cape May County, to give as much state aid as possible in the event that it’s needed. Christie also sent representatives from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to Cape May County to meet with officials and check on the status of our local beaches.
