The Asbury Park Press reports that Gov. Chris Christie was discouraged that so many people have decided to opt students out of taking the PARCC standardized tests. Christie spoke on the topic at a town-hall meeting on Tuesday at the National Guard Armory in Freehold. The governor said that it is important for schools to administer a common test and that people should give the PARCC tests a fair chance before deciding if that should be scrapped. He called the opt-out strategy “shortsighted”.
