Gov. Chris Christie is taking more power in Atlantic City. The resort now has an emergency management team to develop a plan for the city. Kevin Lavin and Kevyn Orr will be the two major players on the team. Lavin has a history of helping troubled companies revive themselves. Orr helped lead Detroit through the biggest municipal bankruptcy filing in U.S. history. Christie said the time is now because he can’t wait another moment to see what will happen in Atlantic City. Some of the leadership within the city is concerned about the governor taking away power from the center leadership. Lavin and Orr are not in charge of day-to-day operations of the city, but will put together a plan that Christie can choose to implement.
