A girl fell off the ferris wheel at Morey’s Piers today and died as a result. The incident took place shortly after noon. City officials tell Coastal Broadcasting the girl was alive at the scene of the accident but was pronounced dead at the hospital. The girl has been identified as 11-year-old Abiah Jones, a student at Pleasant Tech Academy, in Pleasantville. The girl was at the Pier on a class trip. An investigation is on-going now as to why and how the accident took place.

At approximately 12:30 PM on June 3rd, an incident occurred on Morey¹s
Mariner¹s Landing Pier located at Schellenger Ave. and the Boardwalk in
Wildwood, NJ. The incident occurred on the Ferris Wheel and involved a young female. She has been transported to the hospital by helicopter and her
condition is unknown at the present time. The exact cause of the incident
has not been determined, but at this time does not appear to be mechanical
in nature. The incident is being investigated. The Morey staff and family
offer our thoughts and prayers to the family.
