Middle Township Police Chief Chris Leusner and Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor held a joint press conference this morning in Cape May Court House to discuss a situation involving an 8th grade student who brought an airsoft pellet gun to school today. It happened at the Middle School before 8:00am on Friday. The student was quickly apprehended with the gun, the weapon was never discharged and there were no injuries. Parents and students in the entire Middle Township school district were shook up over the incident. Charges against the 12 year old male suspect are pending. Schools reopened after an extensive response and search executed by state, county, and municipal police departments.
