Testimony at Wednesday’s Cape May City Zoning Board meeting declared the Beach Theater not relevant to the historical significance of Victorian Cape May. Architectural historian George Thomas said that the theater was built in 1950 and was not in character with the Victorian architecture of Cape May, even though the building is located within the city’s historic district. The building’s owners, Frank Investments Incorporated, is seeking to demolish the structure and build residential units in it’s place.
