One of the most interesting elections in Cape May’s recent history will take place on Tuesday. Voters are heading to the polls to fill three vacant seats on the city council. This time, no incumbents are running for re-election. Council members Niels Favre, Linda Steenrod, and David Kurkowski all took a pass on this election. Seven candidates will try to fill the three vacant seats during the election on Tuesday. Six of the seven candidates have no political experience in Cape May. There have been many issues involved in this year’s election season in Cape May, including the construction of a new convention center and a controversial plan to add more parking spaces to the city.
