The City of Cape May has acknowledged its receipt of a petition submitted that would request a referendum vote on two new parking ordinances. The petition was submitted by the Friends and Neighbors of East Cape May. The City Clerk is reviewing the petition for accuracy and if it meets the requirements, council will have 20 days to decide to repeal the ordinance or have a special election. The city said it will look at all legal avenues to avoid a special election and says the parking space ordinance is necessary for traffic circulation.
