A new budget was introduced in Cape May. At a previous meeting, a split 2-2 vote kept the budget from being introduced because Mayor Ed Mahaney and Councilwoman Terri Swain didn’t want there to be a tax increase. The nearly $15.2 million spending plan was outline during a meeting on Tuesday. Members of council have the ability to trim down the budget before a final adoption, which could take place in April. The budget comes in $277,000 under the new two percent property tax cap.
