The Cape May County Zoo has once again received the prestigious accreditation of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) for a five year period. Jim Maddy, the President and CEO of AZA presented the 2012 Accreditation Plaque to Cape May County Freeholders Susan Sheppard, Gerald Thornton and Leonard Desiderio at a special awards luncheon at the zoo on Wednesday. All zoo employees and park personnel were recognized for their outstanding work to receive the accreditation. Of 2,500 USDA licensed animal exhibitors in North America, less than 10 percent are able to meet the strict criteria for AZA accreditation.
