Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced today that the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office participated in the bi-annual Child Support Warrant Sweep for the fiscal year 2010.
The Sweep is hosted in cooperation with the New Jersey Office of Child Support Services (OCSS). Sheriff’s Officers from statewide Sheriffs’ Offices, with assistance from other agencies, canvassed the state in search of offenders over the course of the three-day Child Support Sweep. A total of 965 warrants were served and out of an outstanding $ 13,695,010.42 owed, approximately $ 267,883.31 was collected.
Sheriff Gary Schaffer said, “Our Sheriff’s Officers attempted to serve 108 warrants over this three day period of time resulting in 23 arrests and the collection of $10,194.85 in back support payments. Additionally, three ATS warrants were served with total bail amounts of $2,926.00 and three ACS warrants were served with total bail amounts of $3,672.00.”
