CAPE MAY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT REPORTS POSITIVE RESULTS

Its all positives in the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department. An annual report was filed with the Cape May County Freeholders on Tuesday. Sheriff Gary Schaffer talked with Coastal Broadcasting about the report, which shows the department cutting overtime for a fourth straight year and an over $200,000 sum being put back into the budget from surplus money not used by the Sheriff’s Department. Schaffer also said the euthanasia rate the Cape May County Animal Shelter has been reduced again to 7.5 percent. The rate was over 33 percent in 2008.
