CAPE MAY COUNTY SETTLES LAWSUIT WITH FORMER SHERIFF’S OFFICER

On Tuesday, Cape May County agreed to settle a lawsuit with a former sheriff’s officer from the K-9 unit. The Press of Atlantic City reports that at Tuesday night’s Freeholder’s meeting, Kelly Peterson of Lower Township, was awarded $375,000 to settle a lawsuit she filed against the sheriff’s department, alleging sexual harassment and animal abuse in the K-9 unit. The report says Cape May County has denied all of the charges in the suit, but avoided the risk of a jury trial by settling out of court.
