New state numbers suggest the 2014 summer season was a strong one in Cape May County. The occupancy tax numbers for June, July, and August were up $516,000 in occupancy tax, with the three months topping out at $2.6 million in Aug. The occupancy tax represents five percent of the overall room rate.
