Will the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office investigate the government in Lower Township? The township council wants them to. The issue revolves around the township manager and a police officer being told to go to a Republican Committee meeting on Jan. 18. Council could not meet a quorum that night and was hoping that the new council member that the committee was selecting would come over right away to be sworn in. Councilman Tom Conrad and Kevin Lare were on vacation at that meeting. Council voted in favor of asking the prosecutor’s office for an investigation because the majority says no member of council has the authority to ask the manager to do anything without a census of council.
