A tax increase will be introduced by the Cape May County Freeholder Board, but it will be a small one. County Administrator Steve O’Connor tells Coastal Broadcast the increase will be introduced just under one cent. The county still hasn’t reached an agreement with AFSCME, the county’s largest union, which means layoffs are currently planned. If the union can come to a contract agreement with the county, those layoffs can be avoided. Those layoffs will come by June.
