It took two weeks longer than they wanted, but the Cape May County Freeholder Board made it official this week passing its new budget. The tax increase is just over one cent per $100 assessed value in Cape May County. An average taxpayer will pay $204 for $100,000 of property assessment. Cape May County’s tax rate remains the lowest of any county in the State of New Jersey. The total spending plan comes in at $138 million.
