Cape May County will be auctioning more than 1,000 confiscated items with a retail value estimated over $290,000 through online auctions beginning May 22, 2010. Freeholder Director Dan Beyel said, “The items, confiscated from one of the largest stolen property schemes in Cape May County history, will be on auction over a course of several months, on GovDeals which is accessible through the county’s website capemaycountygov.net.” The items represented in this auction include: 71 Dyson vacuums, 23 GPS systems, 22 MP3 players, 8 home security systems, 8 televisions and 4 power washers. Other items range from tools, kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, barbeque grills and more. Money collected from the sale will bring dollars back to the taxpayers.
