A new budget was passed on second reading in Cape May. The new budget will increase the tax rate by about two and a half cents. Because of a cut in state aid, the city made adjustments to its general budget to make up for the $95,000 that was lost. The new general budget comes in at $15,129,241.95, according to documents provided by the city’s clerk’s office. Councilwoman Linda Steenrod was the only “no” vote on the budget that passed 3-1.
