The first of two debates between Governor Chris Christie and Republican challenger Sen. Barbara Buono was held Tuesday night at William Patterson University. The two candidates disagreed on practically every issue raised during the debate, that was interrupted several times by applause from the audience. Buono repeated her claims that Christie is responsible for the state’s unemployment rate and high property taxes. The Governor said that he cut spending to clean up the mess left by former Governor Corzine and slowed the overall increase in property taxes. A second debate between the two candidates will be held next week.
