Stores and businesses began the process of opening their doors again late on Sunday following Hurricane Irene. Some stores, restaurants, and bars at the shore began calling their employees back to work to squeeze out one final week before the Labor Day weekend. Many businesses didn’t bother to wait for the county or state to rescind their evacuation orders before welcoming people back to work. Many motels and hotels along the Jersey Cape are expected to begin taking vacationers in as early as Monday morning.
