Late on Tuesday the House of Representatives approved S. 125, the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program Reauthorization Act of 2015, by unanimous vote. U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) and Pete Visclosky (IN-01) authored the original legislation in 1997 and introduced the House-version of the latest reauthorization in January 2015. The measure will now be sent to President Obama to be signed into law. This legislation reauthorizes the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) grant program at $25 million annually through Fiscal Year 2020 and will prioritize grants to purchase vests for female police officers.
