Bridgeton police are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man who died of injuries he sustained in the 100-block of N. Pearl St. late Sunday night. According to police, officers were called to the area by employees at the Sandwich Construction at the intersection of N. Pearl St. and Irving Ave. at approximately 11:30 PM after they were alerted that a man was lying on the sidewalk north of the business bleeding. The man was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he died early this morning, according to Capt. Michael Gaimari. The victim has not been identified. Gaimari said the victim suffered a serious head injury as a result of the initial medical evaluation but that the exact cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Cumberland/Cape May county medical examiner. An investigation is on-going.
