A 25 year old man from North Carolina has been arrested and charged with attempting to bring an illegal assault weapon with hallow point bullets to the United States Coast Guard Base in Cape May. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Dustin A. Peters of Wilmington, North Carolina had the illegal weapon, numerous high capacity magazines for the weapon, body armor, and multiple rounds of ammunition. Peters was hit with multiple second and fourth degree weapons offenses and was incarcerated at the Cape May County Jail.
