A bill to override a veto by President Barack Obama was supported by both U.S. Senators in New Jersey. Cory Booker issued a state, as he was a cosponsor on a bill that would allow 9/11 victim’s families to take legal action in U.S. court for any role that the Saudi government may have played in the terror attacks of 2001. This is the first time that a veto by President Barack Obama was dealt a successful veto override. Booker issued the following statement:
“There is not a day that goes by that I don’t reflect on the pain and horror of September 11th, the innocent people who were taken from us, and the brave first responders – many New Jersey’s own – who gave their lives to aid their fellow Americans that day. The United States government should not deny 9/11 victims’ families the right to seek every measure of justice possible.”
