Towns along the Jersey Shore will be checking their wiring after the cause of last week’s boardwalk fire in Seaside Park was traced to faulty wiring caused by Hurricane Sandy. Wildwood city officials plan to inspect the electrical wiring along the boardwalk as soon as possible. Public Safety Commissioner Tony Leonetti told the Wildwood Leader that it was unlikely similar damage had occurred to the city’s electrical wiring along the boards. He said the city’s wires were replaced about three years ago, while the wiring at the origin of the Seaside Park blaze was reportedly untouched since the 1970’s.
