Over $1 billion is being redirected to local road and bridge projects throughout New Jersey. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority voted to put $1.25 billion towards these projects, which was previously appropriated towards the ARC Tunnel project. Gov. Chris Christie had cancelled the project, citing cost overruns. The Turnpike Authority oversees the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. Some questioned the move, saying the authority is taking toll money meant to keep up authority roads and put it towards other projects.
