BILL WOULD LIFT DEED RESTRICTION ON SHOWBOAT CASINO

A pair of lawmakers are working on a bill that would void conflicting deed restrictions on the Showboat property. The measure would specifically attempt to eliminate deed restrictions on properties inside of the tourism district of Atlantic City when the property is owned by a public entity. The former Showboat property is owned by Stockton University but conflicting covenants makes it almost impossible to sell. One says it must be a first rate casino property and another ensures it won’t be a casino property.
